hot and blistery on this 92-degree day

It's no secret that I'm not a big fan of heat. I like the in-between weather of spring and fall...and so do my feet. I get blisters so easily when the heat and sweat cause friction between my skin and my shoes.

During lunch I went out for a walk only to return hot, windblown, slightly sunburned and with a stellar blister on my heel. Now I'm hobbling around the office just so that I can pick something up from the printer or get a glass of water. I've learned to deal with the stinging and the pain of blisters over the years, but the part that gets me is that I have to wait a week or more for the blister to heal so that I can again wear the cute shoes that inflicted this sore on me in the first place.

Now, some of you might be saying, "That's so impractical. Why not wear shoes that are more comfortable." Well, the sad truth is that I get blisters from flip flops too. It really isn't the shoes, but the weather. If I'm going to get blisters, it might as well be from the cute, impractical heels. I couldn't find an exact picture of my shoes, but they're the reverse of the pair pictured here (with the floral pattern on the outside, a brown bow and brown lining). They make me happy--when I don't have blisters, of course.

Oh, I almost forgot to share one part of my lunch excursion! My fortune cookie from the Chinese place said "You will conquer obstacles to achieve success." One interpretation of that could be that I will conquer more blisters to grow a callus. Lovely!?

Don't ask me how Sarah Jessica Parker did it every day for "Sex and the City"! Maybe it was easier for her because she weighs about 100 pounds...Either way, stay true to your fashion sense, Anna!
