I was watching TV the other day and saw a commercial for the show "Psych." The strange thing about the commercial was that it was promoting the show based on the fact that the two lead actors, James Roday and Dulé Hill, were named to People Magazine's most recent list of the 50 most beautiful people. I find a couple major things wrong with this: a. both of the actors are cute, but not beautiful, and b. why would you use the idea of "pretty people are on this show" to try to get people to watch it? Shouldn't you watch a show because you actually like the acting or writing? Okay, "Baywatch" was an exception, but back to point a., those actors were beautiful whereas these guys are not.

I've watched the show a few times. I thought it was funny when it started and had some potential. The show never lived up to that potential. My conclusion: the show is so poor, that the network has to use another media channel's work to promote itself.
