orientation

Today was the second day of orientation and tomorrow is the last...then classes start on Thursday. Yay!?

The day started off with a breakfast with the faculty, which was a nice way to get introduced to the professors and also to get to know some of my classmates a little better. I guess I didn't realize how small the incoming class is: there are ~20 in Program 3/P3, which is my program, ~20 in Program 2/P2 and ~5 in the Landscape Architecture Program. It's nice that the class is so small. Evidently, all of the P3s have classes together. We'll be like a big family. It's funny to think that hundreds of people applied to the program though, and somehow I was picked as one of the 20.

Anyhow, after breakfast we heard from the Dean of the college, learned about the registration process and about this other form we are supposed to fill out. We got an IIT mug and a mini architect's scale. It's cute. Then we met with our advisers. After that, there was a campus tour, which I and several others skipped. I already know the campus pretty well, so I didn't feel it necessary to go. Instead, I went to the library and used a computer there to register for classes. From there, I went and got my U-Pass and then went to the book store to get my text books. Funny though, only one of my classes had a book. They say that what the architecture students save in textbook money is spent on supplies. I guess I'll just hold on to my pennies a little longer.
