Yay! The Old Town School of Folk Music made history last night by holding the [new] world's largest music lesson in Welles Park. If you want to get technical, it will also be the largest guitar lesson in the Guinness Book of World Records. Myself, my friend Joe and his roommate Mark, and an unofficial count of 1374 others learned "Jambalaya" and "This Land is Your Land." The previous record holder was Roland van Straaten, who gathered 539 participants for a harmonica lesson in Switzerland last year. The rain held off, which was great since guitars don't sound quite the same when the drums are full of water. After the lesson ended, Joe, Mark and I celebrated with a guinness at the Daily Bar & Grill. Yes, we're that cheesy. It was a really fun night, and I have a special, 50th anniversary guitar pick from the Old Town School to help me remember it.
I have some photos of the evening on my camera, so I'll try to post a couple later tonight.
