farewell

Yesterday morning, my great uncle Joe passed away. It was somewhat surprising news to me. I had learned only the day before that he had been in and out of the hospital all summer, struggling with pneumonia, and he had just been diagnosed with lung cancer.

Joe was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor, snow white hair, and a big red nose. I hope that he is in a more comfortable place now.
