Tonight I had the pleasure of celebrating Elysia's birthday with the company of friends, new and old. Happy birthday again to E! The start of my celebrating the event came a little later as I happened to both write the street name down incorrectly, in a hurry to leave this morning, and also...yes, also, have a moment of dyslexia, in which I mis-wrote the street number as well. I don't always have the best sense of direction, but that was just embarrassing. *blush* Anywho, I ended up still making it to the party within a reasonable amount of time. I enjoyed the entertainment of Elysia opening many funny gifts as well as lots of tasty food. The double chocolate cupcakes were superb! My conversation with Don and Chris was especially memorable. We talked about where we might live if we weren't in Chicago and how much we all value the great outdoors. I have really been missing the dirt lately. I know that sounds weird, but I am dying to have a garden again and I really want to get my hands in the earth and work with plants. Chris asked me how I ever ended up in a high-rise and it made me think. When I last moved, I really hoped to be in a walk-up building, but somehow the lack of timing with my old lease and the niceness of the new place was enough to push out that desire. I guess back then I thought a garden was more of a desire than a need. Thinking about it all makes me want to just hop up and move into the forest! Either the Northwest or Northeast...at least, that was my answer earlier. Fresh air, evergreens, birds, water, a garden. Sounds absolutely fabulous.
