It's that time of year again, when the Blue Angels are in Chicago for the Air and Water Show. I greatly admire the technology that goes into the planes and their aerodynamics. I also greatly admire the skill required to pull off the "tricks" they perform...and perform in unison. However, their noise always freaks me out. Flying at those speeds makes a tremendous sound. The plane is figuratively, ripping through the air. Downtown, it sounds like Chicago is under attack for four days (two days of practice plus two days of the actual show). Even at home, their noise is still unsettling. I live along the lake and since the planes have to fly out a few miles to turn back and pick up speed, they fly right past my building. Their sound echoes across the lake. It's one thing if I choose to go to the show, but this is something different.
