I took the green line out to Oak Park this morning to have brunch with a good friend (and former boss). It was lovely, as usual, to see her and catch up. We went to a little restaurant called Blue Max Cafe which is inside of a house. The place was cute and busy the whole time we were there. I had the veggie and egg scrambler with a side of potatoes and a corn muffin. Barb got one of the specials: poached eggs with hash and a side of potatoes. We were both happy with our choices. The scones in the case at the counter looked really good though. I'd like to try one some other time. The trip out of the city was nice. It's funny how Oak Park is so close to the city, yet those few miles create a noticeable change of pace. People walk slower and actually wait for the go-ahead at crosswalks, rather than just going when it's clear.
