Somehow, I don't get the impression that China is actually sorry for the recent beating of two Japanese journalists or a number of other blunders (i.e., not dealing with air pollution--even when it will hurt athletes' performances, selling weapons to the Sudanese government, beating Tibetan monks and citizens, and many, many news cover-ups, etc., etc.). They're really only sorry that they got caught and that it is further besmirching the country's appearance under the spotlight of the 2008 Olympic Games.[Photo credit to the New York Times]
