free stuff

Today was spent outside in the gorgeous weather, taking advantage of some coupons and gift cards. First, we went to Fruitations for smoothies. I had a pineapple and J got the strawberry. Both were delicious. From there, we walked north to the Gold Coast Art Fair. We wandered around the different streets to see the wares of hundreds of artists. Our only real purchase was from a painter by the name of Melvin McGee. He does really cute, surrealist-inspired works that seem to play with role reversals and inversions of everyday life. I got a small print of a big teddy bear in bed, who's holding a miniature boy...rather than a little boy holding on to his stuffed animal. It's pretty adorable. We ended up getting more free stuff after that from the Burt's Bees tent (lotion samples) and the Science Diet tent (cat food).

After we were done perusing, it was about dinner time, so we went to Buca di Beppo to use some gift cards. We ordered the apple gorgonzola salad and spaghetti with meat sauce. The food came with their tasty focaccia bread, which I quickly helped devour.
